Ceilon has been a hairdresser since she was 18 years old and has 34 years of experience (you do the math 😉 ). She put herself through college as a hairdresser, and thought for sure she would lay down the scissors and never pick them up again when she graduated with a BFA in Studio Art and Graphic Design in 1989. But alas, she moved to Montana where jobs were scarce, so she picked up the scissors again, and worked at hairdressing full-time for the first time ever. She discovered something amazing: she LOVED it! Working at hairdressing exclusively without having to worry about homework assignments and academic/studio deadlines turned out to be a very Zen experience, and she also learned that hairdressing is a kind of art all its own.
Ceilon has done a lot of things over the years: she opened the first Day Spa in Bozeman in 1993 (Synergy Bodyworks), got a masters degree in Native American Studies in 2006, chased her lifelong dream of being a high school art teacher and taught in an inner-city Baltimore high school in Maryland for 5 years, she taught an online course through Extended University for MSU (American Indian Art Survey) for six years, and she is currently working on her PhD in American Studies (doctoral candidate, ABD). But she always come back to hairdressing, because she enjoys everything about it: the skill set, serving others by helping them look good and feel good about themselves; and most of all the relationships that develop in the salon.

After chasing down her last wild hair (teaching in that urban Baltimore high school), she realized that “there’s no place like home” and moved back to Montana for the beautiful environment and the lifestyle. When she’s not making Bozemanites handsome and beautiful, you’ll find Ceilon painting the landscape in her art studio across the hall from the salon, or hiking, biking, x-country skiing, snowshoeing, or…anything that allows her to enjoy the beauty of Montana! Life is good, and Ceilon is grateful to live in such a beautiful place, and for the opportunity to serve people in a job she loves. 🙂
